Senior Monitoring Engineer

Description  Business Title: Senior Monitoring Engineer   Responsible for design, development, deployment and maintenance of IT infrastructure, application and business service monitoring, alerting and reporting.   The Senior Monitoring Engineer is engaged in all phases of the project lifecycle which include; gathering and analyzing user/business system requirements related to proactive and reactive monitoring and event creation. Other duties include operational activity related to Request and Incident Management. identifying and closing gaps or fixing defects in existing monitoring. Proactively identifying gaps and creation of monitoring before an Incident occurs. Reactively responding to Incidents and remediating gaps where monitoring does not exist. The Senior Monitoring Engineer works to achieve operational targets with direct impact on departmental results. Is responsible for improving processes, systems or products to enhance performance of the job area. Can adapt and embrace new perspectives and approaches on existing problems. Communicates with parties within and outside of own department, with the ability to educate others on complex disciplines. May have responsibility for communicating with parties' external to the organization (e.g., customers, vendors, etc.). Works to influence parties within and outside of the job function at an operational level regarding policies, practices and procedures.   Essential responsibilities: Perform periodic audits of monitors under each toolset to ensure currency with application and system events and that monitors will work correctly. Provide first and second level of support, analysis and trouble-shooting to resolve issues with event monitors.  Offer expert tool advice to the troubleshooting team in quickly isolating and resolving incidents.  Help drive reduction in Mean Time to Repair (MTTR) metric. Think proactively and close gaps in current monitoring landscape to prevent incidents. Provide recommendations for improvement to reduce false-positives in alerts. Provide recommendations and actionable tasks to automate and simplify routine monitoring tasks. Proactively work to ensure compliance with all BSC policies and practices. Provide written technical recommendations to improve monitoring capabilities. Participation in projects. Other duties as assigned.   Qualifications  Skills and Experience:  5-7 years' experience in an enterprise monitoring role. advanced Windows/UNIX systems administrator skill set. Working knowledge of several scriptinglanguages - Required. Project or process management certification - desirable. ITIL Certification is desirable as well. Experience in a fast-paced dynamic environment preferred.  Previous experience building and leading a team. Healthcare/Payer operations experience - desirable. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Requires deep knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience. Typically, viewed as a specialist within discipline. May have broad knowledge of project management. Typically, requires a college degree or equivalent experience and minimum 7 years of prior relevant experience. Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
